    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What's the real story with ZLP1000 vs ZLP800 platforms?

We’ve been running these things for 12 years now. The ZLP1000 isn’t just bigger – it’s built different. Yeah, it handles 1000kg versus 800kg, but here’s what they don’t tell you: the ZLP1000 motor runs smoother under heavy loads. I learned that the hard way when our ZLP800 started jerking around with four guys and equipment on board. Scared the hell out of us. Now I only use the 800 for light crews doing glass cleaning or touch-up paint work.

    Who's buying these platforms anyway?

Every high-rise job has them now. Building maintenance companies buy fleets of 10-15 units. Painting contractors love them for apartment complexes. We see them on bridge work, cooling towers, and even grain silos. We know it is used for cleaning solar panels on tall buildings. Smart business if you ask me.

Is it better to rent or buy a suspended platform?

If your project is short-term or one-off, renting is cost-effective. For ongoing use, buying may be more economical. Boltrack offers both options and can help you decide based on your project needs.

ZLP1000 - what you actually get?

Mine lifts 900kg comfortably, though it’s rated for 1000kg. Platform runs 8 meters long – perfect for most jobs. Goes up maybe 10 meters per minute when it’s not loaded heavy. The steel deck gets slippery when wet, so we added grip tape. Takes 380V power, which limits where you can use it. Some buildings only have 220V available.

    Speed expectations - be realistic

Marketing says 9-11 meters per minute. Reality? Maybe 8-9 when you’re loaded up with people and tools. Wind slows it down too. I time my jobs assuming 7 meters per minute and usually finish early. Better than promising something you can’t deliver.

    Wire rope truth

Standard 9.1mm cable lasts about 18 months with regular use.

    Platform sizing reality

They say 1-30 meters, but nobody orders 30 meter platforms. Too unwieldy. Sweet spot is 6-8 meters for most construction work. 4 meters for tight spaces. Anything over 12 meters needs special transport permits.

    Safety features that matter

Emergency stops better be within arm’s reach of everyone on the platform. Period. I’ve seen setups where only the operator could reach the button. Stupid. The safety locks engage automatically if power cuts out – learned that during a storm last year. Platform stayed put while we waited for rescue.
